Michael J. Vinglas, 96, Cresson, died Thursday at his home.
He was born in Coupon, son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Abretski) Vinglas.
Surviving are two children: Michael L. and wife, Edna (Clossin), of Gallitzin and Mary Ellen Boreck and husband, Larry, of Cassandra; a son-in-law, Bill Fels of Mount Joy; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and four siblings: Frank of Altoona, Walter of Cresson, Leon of Ashville and Thomas of Cresson.
He was preceded in death by Naomi Spade, to whom he was formerly married; two daughters: Helen and Nancy Fels; two brothers: Joseph and John; and four sisters: Frances Stasik, Victoria Koeck, Mary Ksiazkiawicz and Helen Zebinsky.
Mike retired in 1981 from the Pennsylvania Railroad as a conductor. He was a member of Gallitzin Moose and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson. He enjoyed eating and was a railroad buff.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held Monday evening. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson, the Rev. Leo Arnone as celebrant. Committal will be in the church cemetery.
