Reading between lines

September 14, 2012
The Altoona Mirror

In a recent television commercial supporting Barack Obama for re-election, former President William Clinton stated, "President Obama has a plan to rebuild America from the ground-up"

I see three points wrong with this statement:

First, Obama promised a good future for Americans through "Hope and Change." Current trends in unemployment along with cost of living increases have me wondering how much America improved since Jan. 20, 2009, the day he walked into the Oval Office. Promises were not kept.

Second, he had full party-line control of the House and Senate when he was elected. He had every opportunity to put his plan in place. What happened?

Finally, the statement suggests a degree of self-centeredness: Is he implying we won't deserve the benefit of this "plan to rebuild America" if we choose to elect someone else? Let's impose this wonderful "plan" now!

I'm resolved to believe there is no plan.
