Arthur G. "Art" Weyant, 90, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert B. and Edna Jane (Miller) Weyant. He married Leona M. Miller on Sept. 28, 1941, in Cumberland, Md., and she preceded him in death on April 15, 2006.
Surviving are four sons: Jerry Lee of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lonnie D. and wife, Joanne, of Woodbridge, Va., Dennis W. and wife, Anne, of Altoona and Kevin L. and wife, Rebecca, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, James G. and wife, Shelby, of Wallingford, Conn.

He was preceded in death by three sons: Arthur Jr., Kevin Scott and Jeffrey Marlin; and two brothers: Bernard L. and Norman.
Art was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, attaining the rank of sergeant and serving with the 749th Railway Operating Battalion. He retired as a freight conductor from Conrail in October 1985 after more than 44 years of service.
Art was a member of East End United Methodist Church, Altoona, and the Eldo Squares square dance club.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, the Rev. Brent Salsgiver officiating. Interment will be made at Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to East End United Methodist Church, 405 E. Hudson Ave., Altoona, PA 16602; or to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
