The Altoona Area High School girls tennis team finished second to Mount Lebanon in the 13th annual Mountain Lion Tennis Invitational on Saturday at the Leopold and Hollidaysburg Area High School courts.
Hollidaysburg was third in the six-team tournament.
Altoona's Ashli Livermore finished runner-up in the No. 1 singles competition, and Altoona's Lauren Lucas was second in the No. 2 singles.
Hollidaysburg's Nur Cardakli and Alyssa Kustenbauder finished runner-up in No. 1 doubles, and Altoona's Kim Letscher and Julia Nagle were second in No. 2 doubles.

Lady Lions place fourth
KUTZTOWN - The Altoona girls and boys cross country teams came in fourth and 12th place respectively at the Penntrack Cross Country Invite held at Kutztown University.
Haley Weaver came in ninth at 21:15 for the girls team, and Kyle Heasley was the top finisher for the boys team with a time of 17:55 in 50th place. The JV girls team placed seventh overall.

Bedford's Kachman triumphs
SIDMAN - Bedford's William Kachman won the Forest Hills Invitational in high school cross country in 17:10.
Northern Bedford's Collin Sherlock placed ninth in 17:30, while teammate Mike Heck was 21st in 17:51.
On the girls' side, Northern Bedford's Maria Snyder placed third overall in 19:53.
Mountain Lions fall to McCort
JOHNSTOWN - Nick Beckel scored one unassisted goal in the second half, but Altoona could not overcome Bishop McCort's first-half lead in a 2-1 loss in high school boys soccer.
Altoona is now 2-2.

Tiger JVs reach semifinals
DERRY - Hollidaysburg went 7-1 in pool play at the Derry Area JV Volleyball Tournament, beating Latrobe, 15-11, in the playoffs, but losing to Connellsville in the semifinals, 25-15.
Dani Glunt scored 30 service points in the tournament, and Hannah Civils had 46 assists. Abby McCready had 19 kills.
Altoona edges Kiski Area
VANDERGRIFT - Zach McConnell scored two touchdowns to help the Altoona Area High School junior varsity football team to a 12-6 win over Kiski Area to improve to 2-0.
McConnell caught a 22-yard touchdown pass and ran 67 yards for another score in a game Altoona trailed at the break, 6-0.

Golden Tigers claw Greensburg
GREENSBURG - Colton Ruggery scored on two 5-yard runs to help the Hollidaysburg junior varsity football team move to 2-0 with a 24-6 victory over Greensburg Salem.
Josh Bickley scored on a 3-yard run, and Caleb Parnell and Ryan Waltz connected on two 2-point conversion passes.
