Margaret Virginia Dumm, 93, formerly of Altoona, died Wednesday morning at Greenhills Village, State College.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Edward Leo and Margaret (Donahue) Starr. She married George Aloysius Dumm on June 7, 1947, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, and he died June 6, 1964.
Surviving are two sons: Edward G. (Jean) of Manchester, N.H., and William L. (Mary Elaine) of Warwick, N.Y.; a daughter, Mary Peterson (Gary) of State College; nine grandchildren: Ann Auger, Megan Marino, Christopher, Jason, Matthew and Sarah Dumm and Pamela, Andrew and John Peterson; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Margaret.
Margaret was a 1936 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and a graduate of Altoona Business School. She retired from Central Counties Bank in 1984 after 25 years of service. She was a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a member of Christian Mothers.
Margaret enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church by Father David Rizzo. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests that donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Christian Mothers or to Greenhills Village, 301 Farmstead Lane, State College, PA 16801, in memory of Virginia.
