Jean Stone, 83, Houtzdale, died Monday. She was born in Philipsburg, daughter of Peter and Mary (Cherifko) Smotzer. She married the late Howard C. Stone. Surviving are two daughters: Debra Srock of Parsonville and Denise Kline of Ephrata; seven grandchildren; and two sisters: Dorothy McClarren and Nancy Arnold. She was preceded in death by two siblings: Mary Smith and Pete Smotzer. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Parsonville Assembly of God.
