Virginia "Jean" Schnars, 91, Portage, died Tuesday at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. She was born in Portage, daughter of Peter and Anna (Canyock) Maul. Surviving are two children: Anthony Richard of Portage and Linda Chapman of Beaverdale; and numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children: David, Joyce Berkhimer, Janet Weyandt and Nancy Rummel; four grandchildren; and brothers and sisters. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, Portage. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at St. Joseph's Church, Portage.
