Christian Mirenda scored a hat trick to lead the Altoona boys soccer team to a 6-0 win over Ligonier Valley Tuesday night in high school action at Mansion Park.
Altoona, which led 4-0 at the break, got a shutout from goalie Joe Smith, who made three saves. Nick Beckel added two goals and an assists for the winners, who improved to 2-1.

ROARING SPRING - Nate Thomas scored twice as Altoona beat Spring Cove, 5-2, in junior high boys action.
Evan Cardoza, Matt Cowan and Billy Ajay also scored for the Mountain Lions, as they improved to 1-0.
Tigers tie DuBois
HOLLIDAYSBURG - Christian Kendziora scored two goals for the Hollidaysburg junior high boys team as it tied DuBois, 4-4, to go to 1-1-1 on the season. Austin Burket had three assists for the Tigers, while Connor Pielmeier and Milo Defay also added goals.
Lady Tigers lose
HOLLIDAYSBURG - The Hollidaysburg junior high girls soccer team dropped its season opener to DuBois on Tuesday, 8-1. Sydney Routch scored the Lady Tigers' lone goal.
