Mrs. Mary Louella Amheiser, 80, of Altoona died Friday at Altoona Regional Health System after an extended illness.

Mrs. Amheiser was born in Cokeville, Westmoreland County, daughter of the late Dean James and Ellen Naomi (Cowan) Riffle. She married Paul William Amheiser on May 12, 1950, at First United Methodist Church. He died on Aug. 9, 1997.

Mary Lou is survived by three children: Paul James (wife, Kay) Amheiser of Roaring Spring, Eileen S. (husband, Mark) Twardon of Altoona and William David (wife, Barbara) Amheiser of Seffner, Fla., six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Marlene M. Stone of Altoona; and a companion, Joseph Brubaker.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Dry Run Baptist Church, Duncansville.

Mrs. Amheiser attended Altoona High School.

She was a past member of Blair County Historical Society, Charter Member of The Genealogy Society and Friends of Altoona Public Library and Plant City Library, Plant City, Fla. She enjoyed reading, sewing and painting.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Jones Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Cory Dobrowolsky officiating. Interment at will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
