William H. Hooe, 84, most recently living with his son in Elkton, Md., formerly of Altoona, died Thursday in Elkton after a brief illness of cancer.
He was born in Steubenville, Ohio, son of the late Wormley and Agnes (Courtney) Hooe. He married Velma E. "Pat" Sullivan, his wife of more than 60 years, and she died May 1, 2010.
Surviving are three sons: Mark of Phoenix, Ariz., Scott of Elkton, Md., and Drew of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren: Aishia, Carla and Jordan; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Lawson of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelley Lynn.
William was a 1946 graduate of Altoona High School, and he attended St. Francis College and Altoona School of Commerce. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Air Force, having served in WWII and the Korean conflict. He retired as a supervisor from the U.S. Postal Service with more than 30 years of service.
William was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Pat, and was a dedicated exercise enthusiast at the Summit Athletic Club. He was a member of the Masons and Prince Hall.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Frederick M. Miller. Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Blair Unit, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648, in memory of William.
