Abraham Louis "Lou" Bavar, 91, Altoona, died Friday morning at Valley View Home.
He was born in Altoona, son of Michael and Bessie (Moskowitz) Bavar.
He is survived by friends, John and Kim Shoeman and their family. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Lottie and Sarah; and two brothers: Harry and Gus.
Lou was a 1939 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1954 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in liberal arts. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, serving as a Link Trainer instructor. He retired from the Los Angeles County civil service office as a courier after 10 years of service.
Lou had a deep appreciation for music and dance.
A graveside service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Agudath Achim Cemetery, Altoona, Rabbi Josh Wohl officiating.
Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
