Joann L. (Ricketts) Martin, 80, Julian, passed away peacefully Tuesday surrounded by her family and friends at her home.
She was born in Heverly, now known as Coalport, daughter of the late Orvis and Catherine Ricketts. She married Gene Martin on Aug. 15, 1948.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years; three daughters: Nancy Walk, Connie Miller and Cathy Martin, all of Julian; a grandson whom she helped raise, Micah Martin of Julian; grandchildren: Tracey Accordino of State College, Amy Tegeder and Mandy Walk, both of Julian, Rachel Zimmerman of Mill Hall and Adam Moore of Houtzdale; six great-grandchildren: Dustin McCartin and Jade Utz, both of State College, Mason Brooks, Samantha Tegeder and Bella Mathias, all of Julian, and Chloe Zimmerman of Mill Hall; five brothers: George, Larry, Jerry and Jim Ricketts, all of Coalport, and Robert Ricketts of Pine Grove Mills; and a sister, Eleanor McClellan of Flinton.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: John "Jack" Ricketts and Ronald Ricketts; and a sister, Pauline Orichosky.
Joann was a loving wife and homemaker and a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Julian. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, friends and her two dogs.
Friends will be received from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, Pastor William J. Hargenrader officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
