Martha Agnes Ayers

Martha Agnes Ayers, 97, Tyrone, died Wednesday.

She was born in Clappertown, daughter of George and Leta (Gorsuch) Fisher. She married Clayton C. Ayers on May 22, 1937, in Winchester, Md., and he died Aug. 28, 2001.

Surviving are three sons: Lewis C. and wife, Patricia, of Akron, Pa., Ronald L. and wife, Carol, of Bald Eagle and Edward A. and wife, Pamela, of Tipton; five grandchildren: Ronald L. Ayers and wife, Lisa, of Warriors Mark, Richard L. Ayers of New Cumberland, Andrew S. Ayers and wife, Michele, of Lancaster, Carrie A. Kobuck and husband, Justin, of Bellwood and Laura L. Ayers and fiance, David Gibbons, of Bellefonte; and four great-grandchildren: Alexander D. and Kathryn M. Ayers of Lancaster and Samuel C. Ayers and Joshua P. Clancy of Warriors Mark.

Martha was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her only brother, Lewis E. Fisher.

Martha found pleasure in preparing a meal for her family and friends. She was known for her pies for church functions.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Warriors Mark United Methodist Church, the Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will follow at Burkett Cemetery.
