NCAA creates more victims

August 13, 2012
The Altoona Mirror

The NCAA should be charged with "aiding and abetting" Jerry Sandusky because it just created hundreds of new "victims."

In addition, it just destroyed any gains that have been made in reporting of child abuse and bringing the importance of reporting it to the forefront.

After seeing the wholesale carnage done by the NCAA to so many kids' futures, the effects on the economy and livelihood of an entire community and all of the other trickle-down collateral damage, it is a pretty good bet that in the future of college sports across America, anyone, anywhere, at anytime who sees or knows anything will never report it or will cover it up for fear of the same fate.

Yes, sanctions were warranted, fines are appropriate, loss of bowl game privileges maybe, but to penalize and hurt kids is unconscionable and just serves to victimize more lives.

It's bad enough that a pervert ruined so many beautiful young lives, but to compound his crimes by ruining other young lives puts the NCAA in the same league.
