Darlene F. Wertz, 62, Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday morning at her home.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Lou and Martha (Spidle) Geesey. She married Terry L. Wertz on Feb. 20, 1970, at First Baptist Church, Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are her husband, with whom she had shared 42 years of marriage; three daughters: Dana Heck and husband, Mike, Kris Helsel and husband, Brian, and Terri Jo Horne and husband, Jeff, all of Hollidaysburg; a son, Brady and wife, Janelle, of Hollidaysburg; 11 grandchildren: Ryan and Jessica Heck, Josh, Ashley, Jenna and Caitlyn Helsel, Justin, Noah and Jude Horne and Jakob and Lincoln Wertz; and a sister, Jean Shaw of Hollidaysburg.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Lou Geesey and James, Donald and Robert Corbin; and two sisters: Shirley Miller and Jane Lingenfelter.
Darlene was a 1968 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School and a graduate of the Altoona Area Vo-Tech School, training as a phlebotomist, and she also received nurse's training while serving in the U.S. Navy. She had been employed at Mercy Hospital, Altoona, and Baxter Medical, Mars.
Darlene was a lifelong and active member of Hollidaysburg First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school and sang in the choir. She belonged to the Red Hat Society, and she enjoyed her family, the outdoors, swimming, picnics and bingo.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, by Pastor Cory Hartman. Military honors will be provided by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church.
