And then there were nine.
Two recruits decommitted, while one reaffirmed his place in Penn State's 2013 recruiting class on Tuesday.
The biggest loss was five-star offensive tackle Dorian Johnson of Belle Vernon. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported he will look at Pitt, Ohio State and Virginia Tech - it was considered a mild surprise when he originally committed to the Nittany Lions over the Panthers.
Earlier in the day, several Internet sources reported that Maryland linebacker Zach Bradshaw also had withdrawn from the class. It had been rumored for several days that Bradshaw was likely to decommit.
They are the fourth and fifth players to have committed to Penn State in this class and change their minds. New Jersey defensive tackle Greg Webb started the trend when he flipped to North Carolina.
Ohio cornerback Ross Douglas and Philadephia receiver Will Fuller followed suit after the NCAA unveiled its penalties against the football program in light of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal and the Freeh Report.
Central Dauphin linebacker Zayd Issah still is part of the class but is considered likely to bolt now that he has a scholarship offer from childhood favorite Oregon. He is supposed to visit with Nittany Lion coach Bill O'Brien in the coming days.
The Lions did get some good news on Tuesday when New Jersey linebacker Brandon Bell reaffirmed his commitment to Penn State following a visit and meeting with the coaches.
