Harry S. Helsel, 90, Claysburg, passed away Saturday at Nason Hospital.

He was born in Claysburg, son of the late John H. and Margaret (Feathers) Helsel. At the age of 84, he married Madaline "Maggie" (Weyandt) Walter. She passed away Sept. 17, 2008.

Surviving are his stepsons: Rick Walter of East Freedom and Dennis Walter of Hollidaysburg; and a sister, Pearl Weyant of Duncansville.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Orville, Russell and James Helsel; two sisters: Agnes Ake and Olive Behe; half-brother, Emory Helsel; and stepson, Randy Walter.

Harry was a 1941 graduate of Claysburg High School. He was employed at Shaffer Stores, King Garage and drove a school bus for Howard Feather for 26 years. In 1962, he built his own garage and had a used car lot and towing service. He retired in 2005. He was a member of Claysburg United Methodist Church and attended Grace United Church of Christ, Claysburg.

Harry played guitar and the upright bass and enjoyed music.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, with Pastor Robert Penner officiating.

Interment will be in Claysburg Union Cemetery.
