Why would anyone want to remove the statue of the man that did more for Penn State than any other person in history? He was not just an outstanding coach but an all-around good person.
Joe Paterno donated so much back to the university that through him he helped Penn State become what it was until now.
Joe made the statement, "I wish I had done more."
If any one of the board members would have done a fraction of what Joe did, maybe some of this would have never happened.
Joe at least told his superiors what was reported to him, but they did nothing, and now Joe is being made to sound like he was evil.
Since the university got its way by removing the statue, maybe all structures built with money donated by the Paterno family should be removed also. After all, with this way of thinking, they are also reminders of Joe.
That will never happen because the university is all about money and greed.
The removal of the statue was poor judgment and then to do it early Sunday morning is disgraceful. Was some of the hurry due to the plane flying over with the banner threatening to remove the statue if the university didn't?
At least one board member had the guts to resign. The rest should do the same. None of them would make a good pimple on Joe's behind.
Let Joe rest in peace. He paid his price, and the rest of the board will have to pay one day.
