Gary E. Norris, 62, Osterburg, formerly of Hesston, Huntingdon County, passed away late Sunday morning at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, after a long struggle with COPD.
He was born in Hesston, son of the late Wilber "Rib" and Mary (Reed) Norris.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Lois (Rhodes) Cline-Norris; two sons: Terry Norris and wife, Cindy, of Huntingdon and Bob Cline and wife, Carrie, of Martinsburg; two daughters: Amanda Bledsoe and husband, Danny, in Tennessee and Kim Gurtatowski and husband, Ray, of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren: Logan Norris, Katie Bledsoe, Bobby Cline and Ryan and Kelly Gurtatowski; two sisters: Mary Vaughn and Caroline "Sis" Ronk and husband, Wilber; two brothers: Walt and wife, Rachel, and Jim and wife, Sarah, all of Hesston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles; and a nephew, Bernie Ronk.
Gary attended Huntingdon area schools. He worked at New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc., Roaring Spring plant, for 34 years as a class A finisher. He loved hunting and planting and tending to his vegetable garden, especially his potatoes, and he enjoyed raising white-faced Herefords.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. However, friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, and from 4:30 until the 6 p.m. funeral service, Friday, July 20, 2012, at Jacob's Church, Hesston, Pastor Harold Lloy Blattenberger officiating. Interment will follow at Jacob's Cemetery, Hesston.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to the American Lung Association or your favorite local charity.
