Earl William Miller

Earl William Miller, 86, passed away Tuesday at his home in Lexington, Ohio, after a brief illness.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Geoffrey and Minnie (Berkheimer) Miller.

Those left to cherish the memory of "Dudley" or "Ed" are his wife of 59 years, Carol Lee (Jackson), whom he married in 1953; three daughters: Vickie West (Jim) of Mansfield, Cindy Haskins (Teck) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jean Miller of Paradise, Texas; four grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and a sister, Erdine Sneath, and a stepsister, Mary Stewart, both of Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by all of his brothers: Carl Miller, Russell Miller, Robert Miller and Paul Cox; and five sisters: Shirley Miller, Daisy Clauser, Mabel Brown, Treva Valenzuela and Gertrude Sneath.

Upon Earl's graduation from Hollidaysburg High School in 1943, he eagerly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. His service during WWII found him at the controls of a tank in the Pacific Theater as part of the 2nd Division.

A celebration of Earl's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Oak Grove Memorial Park, Lexington, Ohio.
