Tessie J. Gargon, 90, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, passed away Monday at the manor.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Andrea and Marie Giovanna (DiLucchio) Nigro. She married Emory E. Gargon Jr. in 1952.

Surviving are her loving husband of 60 years; a daughter, Joan (Douglas) Simpson of Bedford; a son, Emory (Tracy) Gargon III of Columbia, Md.; and three grandchildren: Ali and Tori Gargon and Devin J. Simpson.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; three sisters: Armenia, Marietta and Carman "Mae Mae"; and three brothers: Eugene, Antonio "Peanut" and Daniel.
Tessie was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School and graduated from Altoona Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She retired as a night supervisor at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, and previously had worked at the Cresson Sanatorium. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was also a member of Christian Mothers.
Tessie was a member of Lakemont Lions Club and assisted at the Sacred Heart Food Pantry. She also served on the board of elections. She enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, the seashore and spending time with her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
In memory of Tessie, contributions may be given to the Lakemont Lions Club.
