Dorothy Marie Claar, 80, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Claysburg, went to be with the Lord Wednesday after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Imler, daughter of the late Michael and Lula G. (Imler) Berkey. She married Paul A. Claar on Aug. 20, 1951, in Cumberland, Md., the Rev. Porter officiating.
Surviving are her husband; four children: Linda Carson and husband, Galen, of Imler, Dennis and wife, Joann (Hernandez), of East Freedom, Cindy Tipton and husband, David, of East Freedom and Joseph and wife, Ann (Burket), of East Freedom; 10 grandchildren: Michael Carson and wife, Tammy, Shawn Claar and wife, Christina, Angela Claar, Mandy Dibert, Angel Madden, Jesse Claar, Nicole Fitzpatrick and husband, Kevin, Jessica Claar and husband, Mathew, Elizabeth Claar and Christina Claar; and nine great-grandchildren: Riley, Kalei and Khloe Carson, Emily and Rebekah Claar, Samantha Barnes, Laikyn Dibert, Noah Husack and Jacob Claar.

Also surviving are a sister, Shirley Davis and husband, Kenneth, of Imler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Berkey; two sisters: Mae Hengst and Alice Fickes; two half brothers: Roy Berkey and Samuel Beard; and two half sisters: Pearl Cox and Leah Barefoot.
Dorothy was a member of the Church of God in Manns Choice, where she held various positions in the ladies' ministries, was a Sunday school teacher and worked in the nursery. She gladly gave of her time and talent to help in any way she was needed. She loved being a housewife and spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening, making flower arrangements, cooking, baking, shopping and life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home, Alum Bank, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Church of God in Manns Choice, Pastor Richard Whetstone and the Rev. H. Hoyt Williams officiating. Interment will be at Imler Valley Cemetery.
