Eleanor M. Ranck, 89, Juniata, died Tuesday morning at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview.
She was born in Juniata, daughter of the late Herbert C. and Martha (Bergantz) Ranck.
Surviving are a niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Lewis and Glen "Bud" Ranck.
Eleanor was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University. For more than 20 years, she worked as a licensed practical nurse in many area nursing homes. She served in the Women's Army Corps during WWII and retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in 1982 with 22 years of service. She also retired from Mercy Hospital after more than 10 years of service.
Eleanor was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a life member of the Juniata American Legion, where she was a past commander and also served as adjutant for many years. She was a life member of the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, where she served on the board in many capacities, and a life member of the Nittany Lion Club.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., the Rev. Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
