Troy Lee Higginbotham

Troy Lee Higginbotham, 82, Palmetto, Fla., died Monday, June 25, 2012.

He was born in Prenter, W.Va., and moved to Palmetto in 1989 from Pittsburgh.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Donna; two sons: Kevin (Debbie) Robison of Rockton and Brian (Susan) Robison of Las Vegas; two granddaughters: Natalie and Madeline; and a nephew, Joseph Higginbotham of St. Albans, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.G. and Susie Higginbotham; a brother, Gene; and a sister, Bea Cardwell.

Troy served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired personnel manager for Conrail of Pittsburgh, previously working for Conrail in Altoona and Indianapolis, and also Penn Central in Cleveland. He was a volunteer at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla., for 19 years and for the AARP 55 Alive driving course. He attended Bethel Baptist Church.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, June 29, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church, 1805 30th Ave. W., Bradenton, FL 34205. Committal with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the bell ringers at Bethel Baptist Church.

Arrangements are by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, 43rd Street Chapel, 6041 43rd St. W., Bradenton, Fla.
