Viola Johnson, 78, Altoona Center for Nursing Care, formerly of 2016 10th Ave., Altoona, died Tuesday at the center after an extended illness.
She was born in Georgia, daughter of the late William and Dixie (Robinson) Whitehead.
Surviving are two daughters in love and heart: Danielle Green of Lemasters and Deanna Green Robeson of Meridianville, Ala.; five nieces: Dygretta Gates, Ebony Thompkins, Shirley Thompkins, Denise Thompkins and Penny Thompkins Bittner; and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Whitehead; and a sister, Della May Thompkins.
She was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She retired from Penn State University as a nutritionist.
Viola was a 4-H Club leader for several years.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at Stevens Memorial Chapel.
Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. A celebration repast will be held at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church after the service.
