LEADING OFF: CF Robbie Grossman missed his sixth straight game for an "in-house" reason Saturday. In 54 games this season, Grossman is hitting .217 with three home runs and 17 RBIs.
SAFE AT FIRST: Defensive miscues were really an issue for the Curve early in the season, but they've cut down on their errors recently. The Curve played clean defense again Saturday, and they have committed only one error in June.
STEALING SECOND: Pirates 2011 first-round selection RHP Gerrit Cole gave up three earned runs and struck out six in five innings for High-A Bradenton on Saturday. Cole got a no decision in a start against Jupiter and his season ERA now sits at 2.76.
ROUNDING THIRD: RHP Vic Black pitched two scoreless innings Saturday. Black struck out three in those two frames, and he now has 34 strikeouts in 27 innings this season.
HEADING HOME: RHP Shairon Martis will make the start for the Curve in the series finale. In his last appearance, Martis tossed eight scoreless innings in a 1-0 win over Reading on Tuesday.
