Central softball rained out

June 8, 2012
The Altoona Mirror

The Central softball PIAA Class AA state quarterfinal game against Deer Lakes was postponed Thursday at St. Francis University due to lightning delays and an eventual rain storm.

The Lady Dragons, who were supposed to play in the second game Thursday, have been rescheduled for noon today in the first game of a tripleheader at St. Francis.

Canon McMillan was leading Central Mountain, 6-1, in the fourth inning of the first game when it was halted due to lightning. Under PIAA rules, the game is delayed by a half hour after every lightning strike.

That Class AAAA game will follow Central at 2 p.m., and the Fannett Metal-Elk County Catholic Class A game will follow at 4.
