UNIVERSITY?PARK - The Philipsburg-Osceola High School softball team will have to wait until today to see if it can join its baseball counterpart in Thursday's PIAA quarterfinals.
The defending PIAA Class AA champion Lady Mounties were leading once-beaten WPIAL consolation game winner Neshannock, 1-0, on Monday at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field with two outs in the top of the third inning when the rains came and halted their interdistrict playoff opener. After a delay of more than an hour, the decision was made to suspend the game until this afternoon.
It will resume at 1 p.m. Neshannock will have the potential tying run at third and a 1-2 count on No. 2 hitter Madison Shaffer when the game resumes.
