For the last year or so, there has been an ongoing project to beautify Sixth and Seventh Avenues, from Kettle Street toward the high school, new curbs and sidewalks and replace some water lines.
All the engineering is done before the top coat of blacktop goes on. How nice it will be to drive on new streets for a year or two before the patches begin again.
The finished blacktop went down about one week ago. Imagine my surprise when I drove down Sixth Avenue today.
I saw not one manhole being dug up, but four or five. No wonder our city is in distress, when they can't even get the paving right.
I wonder how much extra those re-patches are going to cost us taxpayers, let alone the road smoothness?
