BOWIE, Md. - The Curve have been playing substantially better ball the past two weeks, but they fell back into some bad habits and beat themselves Sunday afternoon.
Two walks, a wild pitch and an error cost Altoona dearly, and Bowie needed only one big hit to post a 4-2 win at Prince George's Stadium. So after climbing back within two games of .500 entering play Saturday, the Curve have now lost two in a row to drop back to 22-26.
The Baysox once again had a lineup loaded with Baltimore Orioles rehabbing players as Brian Roberts led off and played second base, Endy Chavez batted second and played left field and Mark Reynolds batted third and played third base. Those three combined to go just 1-for-9 but did score two of Bowie's runs.
The Curve grabbed a quick lead as Robbie Grossman doubled to start the game and scored on a double by Tony Sanchez. Bowie answered, though, with a run in its half of the first and three more in the second to take control.
Curve mistakes helped the Baysox score all of their runs.
Today: Altoona at Bowie, 2:05 p.m.

Altoona starter Matt McSwain walked Chavez with one out in the first, then threw a wild pitch. L.J. Hoes tied the game seconds later with an RBI double.
Another walk cost McSwain in the second as he put Buck Britton on to start the inning. Two batters later, Allan de San Miguel blasted an 0-1 pitch for a two-run homer and 3-1 Bowie lead.
Roberts followed with a double, and with two outs, shortstop Brock Holt's throwing error allowed Roberts to score for a 4-1 Baysox edge.
Holt drove in the Curve's second run with a single that scored Kelson Brown in the fifth, but the visitors drew no closer.
Chris Petrini (3-1) won in relief for Bowie, giving up one run on four hits in 3 1/3 innings. He came on with two outs in the fourth after starter Bobby Bundy suffered an undisclosed injury and had to be lifted.
Greg Burke earned his ninth save by recording the final two outs for the Baysox.
McSwain (2-2) settled down after a rough start and lasted seven innings, allowing four runs - three earned - on four hits for the loss.
