Bedford and Northern Bedford have garnered the tops seeds in the District 5 baseball playoffs, the district announced on Sunday afternoon.
The Bisons, who advanced to the second round of interdistricts after winning 5-AA last year, open the postseason today at 4:30 p.m. when they host Windber. If Bedford wins, it will get either second-seeded North Star or third-rated Everett - who play on Tuesday - at Chestnut Ridge High School on Thursday.
The premier power in 5-A for the last decade, Northern Bedford gets under way with a home game on Wednesday, but the Black Panthers will have to wait until later today to know whether their opponent will be defending champion Salisbury-Elk Lick or McConnellsburg, who face off in a preliminary game.
Eleven teams qualified by posting at least .500 records, including Tussey Mountain. The 2011 5-A runner-up Titans host Shade this afternoon for the right to play second-seeded Southern Fulton on Wednesday.
