TYRONE - A Tyrone woman was caught having sex with a 14-year-old boy early Monday, police allege.
Courtney B. Zimmerman, 23, of 231 Gates Road, Tyrone, is behind bars after Tyrone police responded to the 1500 block of Logan Avenue just before 1 a.m., where the mother of the boy claimed she had walked in on Zimmerman and the boy having sex, according to court records.
The boy allegedly told officers that Zimmerman, who was staying at the home because she was a friend of the boy's mother, had come into his bedroom and told him she couldn't sleep. According to police, the boy said Zimmerman lay on the bed, asked him to put in a movie and told the boy she "couldn't go to sleep without cuddling."
The boy told officers the two then kissed and had sex for a short time before his mother, who told police she heard noises coming from the boy's bedroom, walked in.
Zimmerman, police said, denied anything sexual occurred and said she was in the boy's bed with his mother's blessing and that she was cold and afraid of thunderstorms.
Zimmerman allegedly told officers the boy merely touched her arm and said, "It'll be OK," before his mother burst into the room, screaming.
Police said Zimmerman had been drinking with the boy's mother earlier, but both she and the boy denied he drank any of the beer police found in his room.
Zimmerman faces five felony sex counts that include statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors.
At 4:45 a.m. Monday, Magisterial District Judge Todd Kelly set bail for Zimmerman at $25,000 cash and she was placed in Blair County Prison.
A preliminary hearing is slated for May 22 in Tyrone District Court.
