Northern Cambria graduate Janae Dunchack won the Ivy League heptathlon championship recently.
Dunchack, a sophomore at Dartmouth, won the title with 4,924 points to edge out Harvard's Mary Hirst, who had 4,910. Dunchack now holds both the indoor and outdoor heptathlon titles in this event after claiming the first at Cornell in February.

Central graduate Tyler Ferguson threw 7 innings of shutout ball and struck out a career-high 11 batters as the La Roche baseball team downed Penn State Behrend, 3-0, and secured a spot in the AMCC Tournament championship game.
La Roche went on to defeat Mount Aloysius in the final on Saturday.
Ferguson did not allow a hit until the fourth inning and allowed only 3 hits in 7 scoreless innings while striking out 11 batters to record his first postseason win.

Aaron Kovach, a Hollidaysburg graduate, recently completed his junior year for the Mount Aloysius baseball team.
Kovach helped the Mounties upset Pitt Greensburg and make it to the final four of the AMCC by hitting .600 in a three-game series against Greensburg.
In Game 1 of that series, Chestnut Ridge graduate Mike Godissart was the winning pitcher, going the distance for Mount.
Kovach led Mount Aloysius in hitting this past season with a .397 average. He also hit one home run and had 35 RBIs in 45 games.

Andy Smithmyer, an Altoona graduate, picked up his fourth win on the mound for the Division I East Carolina baseball team on Tuesday.
Smithmyer pitched a season-high 6 2/3 innings for ECU, struck out five and allowed just four hits.
The performance lowered Smithmyer's ERA for the season to 1.28.

Drew Westover, a Flinton native, was named to the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's second team baseball squad for his efforts on the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown baseball team this past season.
Westover hit .358 with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs.

Claysburg-Kimmel graduate Monica Iachini was named to the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association Division II All-Atlantic second team for her efforts on the IUP softball squad.
Iachini hit .292 this season with a team-best 24 walks. She also scored 32 runs and stole nine bases.
In four NCAA Division II regional games, Iachini hit .333 and had a .467 on base percentage.

Paige Robertson, an Altoona graduate and junior on the Juniata College softball team, earned All-Landmark Conference second team honors. Robertson batted .357 to lead the team in average, chalking up 30 hits, with 14 RBIs. She started in left field every game this season and recorded 29 put outs and ended the year with a .909 fielding percentage.
Robertson was a member of the Juniata basketball team her freshman and sophomore seasons.
