Guilfoyle outlasts CC with Pleva’s big hit

EBENSBURG - Mike Pleva's two-run single highlighted a three-run top of the eighth inning to lead Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic to a 10-9 win over Central Cambria in high school baseball on Friday.

The Red Devils scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the rally felt short.

BG's Jextin Pugh had three hits, and teammate Nick Johnson had two hits in the Marauders' regular season finale. CC's Sean Love had two hits and four RBIs, and teammates J.P. Monito, Josh Bracken and Sean O'Donnell also had two hits each.

BG hiked its record to 14-5.

Colby Fink went 2-for-3 driving in two runs with two runs scored and Ben Wyland collected two hits and drove in a run and scored.

Cameron Astore collected two doubles and scored twice for the Blue Devils. Jake Stapleton smacked a triple and scored a run and Haden DeGennaro went 3-for-4 and scored twice.
