ORE HILL - Mike Kelly defeated Ken Love on the first playoff hole to win the Iron Masters Spring Medal Championship last Thursday. Both shot 152 in regulation.
Spencer Hinish (155) finished third, and Ken Emigh (156) was fourth. Jordan Albright won the first flight with a 158, winning by eight strokes over Doug Knisely Jr. Gary Kennedy was third, and Mark Steele and Tudor Trifan tied for fourth.
Doug Knisely Sr. won the second flight with a 167. Brian Swank (170) finished second, and Randy Jarratt and Dave Mauk took third and fourth, respectively. Walt Harrold won the third flight at 185, finishing ahead of Scott Croft and Jake Oakes.
Locals miss out
STATE COLLEGE - Honesdale native Eric Williams won a U.S. Open qualifier at the Toftrees Golf Club in State College Thursday morning.
Williams, an amateur, and Summit Hill's Mike Furey both shot a 74, but Williams won the playoff.
Williams will now compete in one of 11 secional qualifiers over 36 holes.
Portage's Aaron Patalune shot a 36 on the back nine but was done in by a 43 on the front while finishing with a 79.
Tyrone graduate Jimmy Gillam shot a 41 on both the front and back to finish with an 82.
Summit
CRESSON - Quintin Dziabo and John Rozansky carded a 57 to win the Summit Country Club's Member's Opening Day two-player modified scramble on Sunday.
Chris Burlingame and Rick Marshall tied with Bill Simanski and Charlie Morten for second at 58. Guido Fabbri and Joe Dziabo tied with Sam Callistro and Denny Michina Sr. for fourth at 59.
Anita Jo Petrusky, Teresa Hoffman and Jenny Garland scored a 61 to win the women's division three-player modified scramble.
On April 29, Artie Fink Jr., Rick Buchanan and Rob Hippo won the Spring Three-Man Scramble with a 59. Brett Smith, Brady Eckenrode and Paul Cooney (61) finished second, while Will McMahon, Matt Statler and Roger Crist (61) placed third.
Josh Swires, Guido Fabbri and Bernie Fabbri (62) finished fourth.
Sylvan Hills
HOLLIDAYSBURG - Jerome Landry and Jesse Ottaway scored a 78 to win the Snowflake Division in a tournament at the Sylvan Hills Golf Club April 28.
Matt Stultz and Skip Hancuff (83) finished second, while Gary Zimmerman and Jack Flude (83) took third. Dave Snyder and R.J. Albrano scored a 74 to win the Arctic Division. Joe Barber and Andy Unger (74) finished second, while John Roland and Jim Burke Sr. (77) took third.
Sinking Valley
TYRONE - The team of John Taylor, Joe Saffin, Mark Long and Priscilla Heidler took first place in the Tuesday Night League at Sinking Valley Country Club on May 1.
Mike Starr, Chris Dutrow and Bill Noye finished second, while Jim Ray, John Graham, Rich Lloyd and Rick Varner placed third.
Philipsburg
PHILIPSBURG - George LeGrand, Greg LeGrand, Tom LeGrand and Mike Neidrick tied with Nancy Moskel, Sandi Myers, Scott Nelson and Denny Rodgers for first at 60 in the net division of the P-O Mountie Matman Golf Classic April 28 at the Philipsburg Elks Lodge & Country Club.
Dave Arnold, Al Herr, Jeff Herr and Jim Miller tied with Kevin Hahn, Chuck Moore, Barry Kline and Tom Harris for third at 62.
Bob Mitchell, Nate Lucas, Matt Johnson and Don Johnson won the gross division at 55. Pat Brown, Doug Goss, Denny Goss and John Harpster (57) finished second, while Ryan Dobo, Mike LaFuria, Lou LaFuria and Jeremy Potter (58) took third.
Scotch Valley
HOLLIDAYSBURG - Team Blake took first place in The Village at Morrisons Cove with a 55 at Scotch Valley.
Team Courtesy Motors (57) finished second, and The DeGol Organization (59) placed third.
Huntingdon
HUNTINGDON - Bob Orr and Mike Dore carded a 41 for the low gross, and Gerry Huggler scored a 36 for the low net in the Big Orange Golf League's second week at the Huntingdon Country Club.
Huggler's chip on the 12th hole for birdie was the shot of the day.
Bill Landis scored a 41 for the low gross, and Orr's 34 was good for the low net on the first week. Fred Lear's 20-foot putt for birdie on the fourth was the shot of the day.
