LEADING OFF: Curve manager P.J. Forbes is still nursing a sore back and said he's "still doing a lot more talking than I am physical stuff."
SAFE AT FIRST: Forbes has been unable to coach third base, so Mike Ryan has handled those duties lately. "He's done an outstanding job," Forbes said of Ryan, who had never coached third until this season. Forbes gave Ryan some opportunities to do so in spring training, and it paid off since he's needed now."
STEALING SECOND: Forbes said of Friday's game, "We ran the bases tonight as well as I've ever seen us run the bases." He also said of the 8-7 comeback win, "I'm real happy for this group because for me, it's kind of a growing up night for a lot of them."
ROUNDING THIRD: RHP Tim Alderson continues to excel for the Curve, throwing two more shutout innings Friday. He hasn't been scored upon in 12 innings over six outings, has 12 strikeouts to only three walks and has held opposing hitters to a .190 average.
HEADING HOME: Tonight's promotion: Postgame fireworks.
