Vikings get by Knights in nine

Tyler Potutschnig belted an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to lift Glendale over Moshannon Valley, 16-15, in nine innings in high school baseball action Saturday at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Mitch Gedman had two hits and drove in two runs for the Vikings.

Joel Martin went 4-for-6 and scored four runs for the Black Knights

Glendale hiked its record to 5-9, while Mo Valley fell to 2-10.

Portage wins Classic

PORTAGE - Portage beat Southern Huntington, 10-1, in the title game of the Portage Spring Classic, and the Mustangs' Evan Price was named tournament MVP for collecting five hits in two games.

Jesse Kreutzberger had a three-run single in the fourth inning of the championship game for Portage (7-6), which beat Harmony in its opener, 14-4 in six innings. Kreutzberger won the tournament's home run derby.

Penns Valley beat Harmony, 11-7, to win the consolation bracket.

Altoona Teener Major

Nick Snyder's two-out single scored Nik Suckinos in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Altoona Lions to a 5-4 win over Police at Seitz Field.

Kris Hatch had three hits, and Mikey Weston had two hits for Altoona Lions. Noah Robertson had three hits, and Conner Gahagan had two hits for Police.
