LORETTO -- The Mirror has confirmed that four-year assistant coach Joe Haigh has been named the seventh head coach of the St. Francis women's basketball program Wednesday afternoon.
Haigh and athletic director Bob Krimmel were to meet with the team at the Stokes Center at 6:30 p.m. to deliver the news.
The Red Flash reclaimed their status as a small-school dynasty during Haigh's time in Loretto, compiling a 47-25 record against Northeast Conference opponents over the past four seasons. In 2009-2010 and 2010-2011, St. Francis earned its two most recent NEC titles and NCAA Tournament berths.
Haigh fills the vacancy left by Susan Robinson Fruchtl, who accepted the head coaching position at Providence three weeks ago.
There will be more on this story in Thursday's Mirror.
