Lady Red Devils erupt against BC

EBENSBURG - Chelsey Long hit a two-run homer to spark an eight-run fifth inning to help Central Cambria defeat Bishop Carroll, 10-5, in high school softball on Tuesday.

Aimee Espe had five hits for the Lady Red Devils, who improved to 5-3.

Krista Krug, Haley Krug and Alli Farabaugh each drove in runs for Bishop Carroll (1-7).

n Behind Chelsey Henry's no-hitter and 10 strikeouts, Philipsburg-Osceola beat Mount Nittany, 7-0, in the A game in junior high action.

Haylee Hayward had two doubles for P-O, which is 3-1.

In the B game, Mount Nittany downed Philipsburg-Osceola, 6-5.

n Mifflin County swept a doubleheader against Altoona, 7-2 and 22-3, in junior high action.

Altoona's Andrea Parrish had two hits, including a double, in the first game, and teammate Bethany Kudlawiec had two hits in the second game. Altoona is 1-7-1.

Mifflin County swept the junior varsity games, 15-5, 20-5.

n Hollidaysburg's Samantha Parnell scored the lone run in the first game of a doubleheader as the Lady Tigers fell to Bald Eagle Area, 23-1, in junior high action. In game two, Marissa Maher and Kiera Brumbaugh each had hits as Hollidaysburg lost, 18-3.

The seventh grade Lady Tigers split, winning 6-5 and losing 8-3, against Bald Eagle Area.
