LEADING OFF: Pirates prospect Gerrit Cole, the No. 1 pick in last year's draft, made his minor league debut for high-A Bradenton on Monday. The right-hander had a strong outing, pitching four innings and allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk against Palm Beach.
SAFE AT FIRST: LHP Aaron Poreda, the only member of the Curve who has appeared in the major leagues, takes the mound tonight against Akron. Poreda pitched for the White Sox and Padres in 2009, going 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 13-plus innings.
STEALING SECOND: Curve pitchers walked 10 batters Monday after walking 11 in the first three games combined.
ROUNDING THIRD: Former Curve slugger Brad Eldred hit two solo homers against the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate, Indianapolis, on Saturday.
HEADING HOME: Tonight's promotion: Two for Tuesday (two tickets, two hot dogs, two small popcorns for the price of one).
