Mountain Lions clip Cedar Cliff in 8 innings

J.D. Green scored the winning run from second base on a one-out throwing error in the bottom of the eighth inning as Altoona edged Cedar Cliff, 7-6, in high school baseball on Monday.

Jake Chesney knocked in a pair of runs with two hits for Altoona, which won its season opener.

CLAYSBURG - A five-run fifth inning helped propel Claysburg-Kimmel to a win over Central, improving the Bulldogs to 3-0.

Devin Weyandt doubled, had two hits and drove in four runs to go with two hits and three RBIs from Doug Knisely. Jared Ickes chipped in with three RBIs and scored three runs.

Central, which led 7-3 going into the bottom of the fourth, got two hits and two RBIs from Brady Moore and two more RBIs from Mike Mock.
