Furrer Beverage, Sheetz, the Altoona Mirror, WRKY-FM 104.9 and WTAJ TV are teaming up to once again sponsor the 24th annual Co-Ed Wallyball Tournament to benefit the Blair County Respiratory Disease Society.
The event will be held April 19 to 22 at The Summit Tennis & Athletic Club, Altoona.
Wallyball is basically like volleyball, only played on a racquetball court. Teams consist of four members on the court (at least one must be female). A maximum of 10 people per team is allowed. The event has three divisions: beginners, intermediate and advanced. Teams enjoy a weekend of fun, food and camaraderie.
Planning for the 24th annual Co-Ed Wallyball Tournament to benefit the Blair County Respiratory Disease Society are (from left): Ron Dalansky, Furrer Beverage; Melinda Green, The Summit Tennis & Athletic Club; Rachel Derby and Ken Gardner, Respiratory Disease Society; Jody Gill, WTAJ TV; and Danis Bell and Tommy Edwards, WRKY-FM 104.9.
Team members receive a T-shirt and many other gifts and prizes. There are awards for first-, second- and third-place winners of each division. In addition, there are many fundraiser awards. Proceeds will benefit the Blair County Respiratory Disease Society's Cribs for Kids and safe sleep education programs, asthma and allergy programs and other community programs.
