East Coast owners aim for new start

March 10, 2012

The owners of recently closed East Coast Gun Sales are launching a new gun company.

James and Deborah Faith are listed as the organizers of JnDguns LLC, created Jan. 13, according to the Pennsylvania Corporation Bureau.

A sign on the door of East Coast Gun Sales' former location in Duncansville reads: "JND Guns will be opening within the next couple months. Please watch for our advertising. Thank you for all of your continued support!!"

An attempt to reach the Faiths for comment was unsuccessful Friday.

East Coast moved to Fairway Drive in Altoona around the end of last year, but a going-out-of-business sale took place in February.

The Fairway Drive location is now closed, with no company identification on the main retail doors - although a taped paper sign identifying the administrative offices remains on a different set of doors.

The company hasn't said why the liquidation took place, although there have been recent problems.

A couple of weeks ago, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed it was conducting a firearms-related investigation of the company. And this week, a settlement was reached with the family of an employee accidentally shot and killed during a Gatling gun demonstration at a social event in 2007.

The firearms investigation does not include the new firm just launched, ATF Special Agent Steve Bartholomew said.

East Coast management has been cooperative with the investigators, Bartholomew said.
