The District 6 championships will be returning to their traditional home, at least in Class AA and Class A.
District 6 basketball chairman T.J. Kakabar announced this afternoon that the tournament finals in the classifications for the two smallest-sized schools would be played on Saturday at St. Francis University's DeGol Arena in Loretto.
It originally had been presumed the venue would not be available this weekend because of a scheduling conflict.
The Class A finals will be played as an afternoon doubleheader beginning with the girls game at 2 p.m. Class AA will have a 6:30/8 p.m. twinbill, once again tipping off with the girls games.
The teams in those contests will be determined tonight and Wednesday.
The Class AAAA and AAA games are being played at other sites during the week. The Class AAA girls championship between Tyrone and Hollidaysburg is being held Wednesday night at the Altoona Area High School Fieldhouse. Both Class AAAA finals are slated for Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School on Thursday, the same night the 6-AAA boys champion will be crowned.
District 5 will determine its champions on Friday and Saturday at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
