Blair proposes changes to judicial boundaries

February 28, 2012
From Mirror staff reports

HOLLIDAYSBURG - Blair County is proposing changes within its magisterial district boundary lines.

In a plan being prepared to file with the state, the county will propose consolidating Tyrone Township under Magisterial District Judge Fred B. Miller of Tyrone. He and Magisterial District Judge Steven D. Jackson currently share responsibilities of cases filed in that municipality.

The plan also suggests having Magisterial District Judge Paula Aigner preside over cases filed in Duncansville, currently handled through Jackson's office.

The county's plan to make changes must be posted for public comment before filed with the state.

The last changes in the magisterial judicial boundaries occurred after the 2009 death of Magisterial District Judge Joseph L. Moran. Moran's district was split in 2010 between Altoona Magisterial District Judges Todd F. Kelly and Jeffrey P. Auker.

Additional details about the new plan are to be announced today during a news conference at the Blair County Courthouse.
