Songwriters pen ‘viral’ tune

February 24, 2012
From Mirror reports , The Altoona Mirror

The area songwriting duo of Bill Dann and Jack Servello are back at it again.

The pair, who had a YouTube hit with last year's Easter novelty song "Marsha the Marshmallow Peep," have penned another novelty song that's getting online attention.

"Thor, The Purple Squirrel from Jersey Shore" is a nod to the online sensation that was the story of an unexplained, purple-hued squirrel found recently in Jersey Shore, Pa.

Since Dann posted a photo collage-style video for the song on YouTube on Feb. 14, the tune has gotten more than 10,000 hits. The song has also gotten play on local radio.
