MUNDYS CORNER - The Great Commission girls basketball team won its first Allegheny Christian Athletic Association championship with a 46-34 victory over Sunbury Christian on Saturday.
League MVP Jaissle McCoy scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds. McCoy and Jen Drenning, who scored 16 points, were named league all-stars.
Keirsten Cover made four 3-pointers for the Lady Bears.
"It's been a two-year process," Great Commission coach Joe Bordack said. "They worked so hard all year long, played great defense and worked together so well as a team."

CCC boys prevail
MUNDYS CORNER - The Cambria County Christian boys made it to the finals of the ACAA last season and lost. They made it to the finals again this year, and they beat Northumberland Christian on their home court, 48-41.
Dominic Williams earned MVP honors with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Panthers finished the season at 30-2.
"We finished second last year so we came into this season with a goal. We knew we just had to keep on winning as the season went on," Cambria County coach Brian Maykovich said.
The Panthers, who led 31-23 at the break, also got 14 points from Tyler Berkebile and 11 from Andy Mo.

GC boys place fourth
MUNDYS CORNER - Meadowbrook Christian hit 11 3-pointers en route to a 68-53 win over Great Commission in the consolation game of the ACAA tournament.
The Bears, down 31-22 at the break, got 20 points and six steals from Jonah Salyards, who also made the all-tourney team. He was joined by teammate Dylan Johnson, who finished with six points.
