Robert Martin Lang, 80, Altoona, passed away Thursday at home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Michael and Mary (Angermeier) Lang. He married Dana J. Karlie at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Tonya Manna of Charlotte, N.C., and Chandra (James) Shumac of Altoona; two sons: Randy (Sharon) of Altoona and Shane (Colleen) of Sandy Ridge; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Pottsgrove; and a brother, Walter.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Melene Dambeck; and five brothers: Michael, Herman, Paul, Oscar and John.
Robert was a graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He retired from Cove Shoe Co. as a supervisor. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and also belonged to the Bavarian Aid Society, Unter Uns, Swiss Rifle Club and Bellwood American Legion.
Robert enjoyed woodworking and being outdoors.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at Santella Funeral Home (www.santellafuneralhome.com), where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona. Committal with military honors will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Robert's memory.
