WILLIAMSBURG - Tyrone improved its record to 19-3 with a 46-37 non-league victory over Williamsburg in high school girls basketball on Thursday.

Olivia Stever and Nicole Gripp each scored 13 points for the Lady Eagles, who face Bald Eagle Area on Saturday in Bellefonte for the Mountain League championship.

Allison Edwards collected 20 points and nine rebounds for Williamsburg (13-9), and Casey Detwiler had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

"Tyrone's a good team,'' Williamsburg coach Don Appleman said. "I was pleased that we competed with them. Their three losses were to Bellwood-Antis, Central and Hollidaysburg. They didn't have any bad losses. It was a good game for us to end the regular season.''

PORTAGE - Sophomore Olivia McCabe delivered 24 points and 11 rebounds to help Portage close the regular season with a victory over Ferndale.

Emily Chobany had 11 points and six rebounds for the Lady Mustangs, who improved to 15-7 overall and 7-5 in the WestPAC North Division, and Candice Ramus grabbed six rebounds.

Gabrielle Kull scored 14 points for Ferndale.

Phipps hits milestone

EVERETT - Everett High School junior Aubrea Phipps scored 19 points, one of which was her 1,000th career point, in a 63-35 loss to Tussey Mountain Wednesday night.

Phipps is 10 rebounds short of 600 for her career.
