The process of fracking (hydraulic fracturing) to obtain natural gas from the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania cannot meet its alleged promise to access cheap, clean energy for two main reasons:
Visualize taking upwards of 500 proprietary toxic chemicals, mixing them in millions of gallons of clean water and injecting this poisonous mixture deep into the bowels of the earth forcing the bubbles of gas to rise under unbelievable pressure.
Numerous accounts across America where fracking has been tried testify to terrible environmental harm that results - most notably damage to streams and fish and other life.
I can never understand outdoorsmen or mothers with children who love to swim supporting fracking in the beautiful lands of Pennsylvania.
Trout fishermen should defend the pristine waters of Pennsylvania and its natural beauty and not succumb to this nature destroying boom, especially those who love to fish trout, the fish that truly loves clean, cool water.
Tell the governor to let Texas be a gasland wasteland, but not Pennsylvania.
In fact, the price of natural gas is diminishing and hence the get cheap fuel quick and easy premise is shattered.
It will cost far more in terms of detriment to environment as well drilling costs.
Hence, it is neither clean nor cheap.
There are people who do not love Pennsylvania, who are poor stewards and should never be in elected office, but they are here and eager to destroy the greatest state as far as fresh, running waters --my beloved Pennsylvania.
Fracking is incredibly risky and should be stopped.
